The Campus Farm’s 1st Hoop House

First off, what is a hoop house?

[a] structure used as a greenhouse or a season extender and is characterized by a half-round “hoop” shape.

On the Panhellenic Day of Service, the farm had many volunteers come out and work on building raised beds, weeding plots of farmland, and constructing the farm’s first-ever hoop house. The hoop house was a project of Malorie, the new campus farm manager, with the intent of extending the farm’s growing season and thus being able to expand our variety of crops we will grow at the farm to cater to our new customer’s needs.

Check out this video to see how a hoop house operates here.

In the Greencastle community, there is also an upcoming local produce store, Harvest by Red Barn Farms, being started by Greencastle farmer Rick Woodall.
