Nature Play Days

Between June 10 and June 18, across the state of Indiana, Nature Play Days were held. In Greencastle, IN, the Greencastle Sustainability Committee and the BE WELL Putnam County Hospital Community Wellness Initiative worked together to bring Nature Play Days to the youth of Greencastle. Various activities such as butterfly garden planting, nature hikes, and volunteering at the DePauw Campus Farm allowed children to go out and be active in the community during the hot weeks of summer.

Myself along with two other Committee members, Joevita Weah and Mayra Leon Coss, led a nature hike through the DePauw Nature Park on June 11. During the hike, we pointed out native and invasive plants (trees, flowers, vines), rock formation processes in the quarry, and edible plants as well.
